1901 - Paris -Bordeaux - France    
     

In 1903 the ACF organized Paris-Bordeaux-Madrid. But the event was cancelled, when it reached Bordeaux. The race had been catastrophal: Cars bumped into trees, spectators were hit by very fast race machines, drivers died and so on.. Again the French Government banned racing and again it was reallowed under pressure of the motor industry.

1902 - Paris - Insbruck    
   

The 1902 race was held in conjunction with the ACF's Paris to Vienna race, but the finish point was at Innsbruck. This time, Edge's Napier won, handing the French their first defeat in a major race. As the winning country, Great Britain hosted the 1903 Bennett Trophy race at Athy, in Ireland.

1903 - Kilmead - Ireland    
   

And so the first ever Gordon Bennett Race took place in Ireland in 1903. The race started at Ballyshannon, some ten miles from Athy on the Dublin road and the course selected was in the nature of a figure of eight.

1904 - Taunus - Germany    
   

Taunus was a 75 mile road-track used for the one-off 1907 Kaiserpreis. The circuit used part of the 1904 Gordon-Bennett Trophy circuit, and was situated between Homburg and Weilburg.

1905 - Circuit d'Auvergne - France    
     

The Auvergne course as it would be called was 137km long and was going up and down the terrain turning and twisting in some 3000 corners, the tightest of them even demanding the drivers to use the reverse gear. Passing was about as easy as in Monaco nowadays.
